Don’t worry we just may have your fix so you can get back to feeding your fish.

Zynga is a social network game developer on social networking websites such as Facebook and MySpace. One of their popular games is called Fishville. This game, like all other Zynga browser-based games, makes use of the Flash multimedia platform. Although easy to use and fun to view, Flash does have its drawbacks. The most important drawback is the amount of resources needed to display and interact with the highly-intensive animations as in Fishville. Another issue is data corruption via the browser or the computer itself. Let’s take a look at fixing both of these problems so you can continue enjoy playing Fishville like you’re supposed to.

Problem 1: Slow animation or game-play.

Problem 2: Fishville won’t load or parts of the game won’t load.

Solution for both problems: Make your computer faster! Sounds easy, right? You can always buy a new computer which would solve this problem, but most of us can’t right now. So, let’s make what we got better.

Follow each step and you should see an increase in speed and hopefully will fix any loading issues as well.

Step 1: Clean unneeded files from your hard drive. Download this great little program called CCleaner. It gets rid of a lot of files that are just clogging up your hard drive including your browser cache and cookies. It’s safe and it works!

Step 2: Defrag your hard drive. This is a very easy and effective way to help speed up your computer. You should defrag your hard drive about once a month (or set up a schedule in Windows Vista and Windows 7).

Open Disk Defragmenter by clicking the “Start” button, clicking “All Programs“, clicking “Accessories“, clicking “System Tools“, and then clicking “Disk Defragmenter“. The defragment program should now open. Make sure to click “Defragment Now“. Note: it may take between a few minutes to a few hours to complete.

Step 3: Restart your computer. I have been working with and repairing computers for over 15 years now and it still amazes me how simply restarting a computer can do so much.

Step 4: Close unwanted programs. Most of you have programs that you don’t need or simply not using running in the background as you are reading this. Do you see the icons in the lower right hand corner of the screen? That’s where most of them are. Go ahead and hover over each icon in order to see what program it is. If it’s something you’re not using (i.e. MSN Messenger) then right-click the icon and exit or close the program. You don’t have to worry about closing the wrong program because they will all be there the next time you restart your computer.

Step 5:Login and start playing Fishville!

If you are still having problems getting Fishville to load correctly you may want to try a different browser like Mozilla Firefox. It’s highly recommended here in the computer repair industry because it is more difficult to get spyware and trojans on your computer than its counterpart; Microsoft Internet Explorer.

There are no guarantees in life as well as computer repair. If none of these suggestions work for you then you may need to bring your computer in for service.

Many people have asked me how to make a website. Usually they ask if I can do it for them because they’re too scared to even try. Well, I’m here to tell you that’s it’s actually pretty easy to make, design and build a website, with your own domain name, of course!

The first step to making a website is to decide on a domain name (i.e. yahoo.com, techtroupe.com, etc…). It can be anything you want, assuming the name is available. Go over to 1 and 1 and search for domain names that you might be interested in. We also offer an easy domain name checker below, as well. Check it out! Don’t be discouraged if the names you want are all gone, you may just need to be creative in finding the right name; instead of flowersforyou.com maybe try flowers4you.com or flowers4u.com or even flowers-for-you.com, because all three say the same thing just with different domain names. Good luck and happy searching.

com
net

name
biz

The next step in making a website is to have it hosted somewhere. Personally I like 1and1.combecause they have never, ever given me any problems! They are also one of the cheapest hosting companies out there, plus you get free domain names if you register with them. So, basically they can register your domain, and host it for you, which makes it very easy for anyone just starting out. Also note that you will be able to have your own email address based on your domain name such as yourname@yourdomain.com. This, of course, will make any business card or company header seem much more professional than using a free email account at yahoo, gmail or hotmail. In fact, you don’t even need to put up a website; simply register your domain and sign up for an email service instead so that you get the great email without having to deal with running a website.

Once you decide on a company you will need to know which plan to select because most hosting companies offer many different plans. If you’re thinking of running a blog like this one then you won’t need much in terms of bandwidth or disk space. ANY plan at 1and1.com will be able to host a blog or small website like this one. Of course if you’re looking to sell items in a webstore then you would need to select and ecommerce-type plan that offers the programs and scripts built-in like item listing and credit card billing. Don’t worry if you select the wrong plan as you can always upgrade, or downgrade, by contacting customer service (and, yes, they have great customer service!).

Once you have a domain name and a hosting plan then the next step is figuring out what you want to do witht site. 1and1.com offers easy to use templates to get your website up and running quickly. You can use those templates or search the web for free ready-made templates to use as your design. You can also create your own design by using a WYSIWYG html editor such as Microsoft Front Page or use a free html editor like Nvu. If you want to run a blog then I would suggest using WordPress as it’s the easiest to install and use.

If you go with a blog, template from the web or you just want to create your own you will need to upload it to the site via FTP. When you signed up for a hosting account they will send you an email message that contains important information and passwords including your FTP account info. You will need to use that info in order to access your website and upload files. Internet Explorer has FTP built-in or you can always download an FTP client from download.com.

It’s always a good idea to get your own domain name (and be solely in charge of it) instead of using “free” hosts names (i.e. geocities). The Internet has become a large marketplace that offers potential gains with every website that comes along. Why not become part of it, instead of helping others gain from it (i.e. geocities)

Search engine traffic is the best website traffic you can get. Using your own domain will help you achieve high rankings in search engines such as Google, Yahoo and MSN. Using a “free” host name is usually frowned upon by search engines, therefore eliminating any possibility of potential gains.

It’s real easy getting your own domain name these days. Due to competition, the price has dropped considerably since the days of $70 names. Some good places to go are namecheap.com and godaddy.com. They provide the best bang for your buck, so to speak. Be careful about searching for names at Network Solutions because they “hold” whatever domain name you search for so you can only register it with them. It’s an unseemly practice since they charge 3 times as much as others do for domain registration.

Once you have your domain name then you need to get hosting somewhere. I personally use 1 and 1 for hosting of this blog, and would recommend it to anyone. They are cheap and easy to use.

If you are using 1 and 1 for hosting and have any questions, feel free to ask via comments or email me at ryan—at—techtroupe.com (replace —at— with @ (used to prevent spam))

eBay can be magical place if you want it to be. For most people eBay can be overwhelming when searching for deals.

I was recently in the market for a laptop that I was going to buy for a friend. She didn’t want to spend over $200. As of right now there are 19,000+ laptops under that category on eBay. Of those, there are 10,000+ under $200!! No way was I going to search through all 10,000 laptops in order to find one that I liked. Odds are that the ones that are in my price range now are going to spike in the last 30 minutes of the auction anyway.

So, here are some things I tried in order to find a deal on eBay.

First, I set my standards based on the price I was willing to pay. I figure for $200 I should be able to get a low Pentium 4 or a high Pentium III with everything, except the battery (buying a laptop on eBay with a good battery is extremely rare).

Once I set my standard, I began to search for misspelled auctions; i.e. labtop -laptop, “note book” -notebook, lap top -laptop and so on. I didn’t find anything worth while this time.

Next, I tried searching auctions that are close to ending so that I might try to snipe one at the last second. Again, no luck.

Finally, I tried searching the Buy it Now’s, starting at the most recently listed. There were some pretty good deals but none that really felt was worth it. I decided to take a break for a few hours and try again later that night. I later searched again and found a Pentium III, 1Ghz with 256mb RAM, DVD player, 40Gb hard drive and a bad battery for $99. This was well within my price range and it was listed only 2 hours prior, so I bought it.

The laptop I bought turned out to be a great deal as everything worked well. I later bought a battery for $50 to complete the laptop for my friend. It’s a nice Pentium III laptop for about $150, not too bad!

The moral of this story is to think outside the box and be patient. There are some people who are willing to sacrifice more money because they need it NOW! Items get listed all the time on eBay, if you don’t see what you want then be patient and wait it out until a good deal becomes available.
